Selling a product at a branch

Catalog → Location Product

A product existing in your catalog does not mean any shop sells it. Each branch has its own list of what it carries, and a product with no listing never appears on that branch’s till.

This is the single most common reason a product “is missing” from the counter.

  1. Go to Stock → Catalog → Location Products.
  2. Pick the branch in Location.
  3. Click Add products.
  4. Search the master catalogue and tick what this branch should sell. Anything already listed is marked Already added.
  5. Click Add.
  1. Open the product and go to the Locations tab.
  2. Click New record.
  3. Pick the Location.
  4. Set Product status to Active — the other options are Out of stock, Pre-order and Discontinued.
  5. Set Status to Active.
  6. Set the Start date. This is required.
  7. Optionally set a Display name for this branch, an End date, and Tax exempt.
  8. Click Save.

On Location Products there is an All / Sellable / Not sellable toggle. Switch it to Not sellable to see every listing that exists but will never reach the till.

This is the first place to look when a product has “disappeared” from the counter. The usual causes are all here: no listing at all, Status inactive, Product status set to Discontinued, a Start date in the future, or an End date already passed.

A listing is a yes/no decision — does this branch carry this item — plus a few local details.

On the listing
Display name Overrides the product’s name on this branch’s labels and receipts
Status Pending, active or inactive — whether the listing itself is live
Product status Active, discontinued, out of stock or pre-order
Online status Whether it is published to the storefront from here
Tax exempt Follows this branch’s tax rules
Start date, end date The window it may be sold in

All three must be true:

  1. The listing status is Active.
  2. The product status is not Discontinued.
  3. Today falls inside the start and end dates.

Fail any one and the item will not appear at the till. The list has an All / Sellable / Not sellable filter and tells you which of these is the reason, which is the quickest way to diagnose a missing product.

Two product statuses deliberately do not block selling:

  • Out of stock is informational only — real stock is tracked separately.
  • Pre-order lets you sell before the goods arrive, on purpose.

You can only list a product that already exists — this screen never creates products. Each branch can hold one listing per product, or per variant where you want that level of control. The branch and variant cannot be changed afterwards.

Removing a listing does not touch stock or sales history. It only stops the product appearing at that branch from now on.
