Working with stock
Inventory lives under Stock, in four groups: Warehousing, Operations, Counts & Periods, and Tracking & Analytics. The documents that move stock between branches sit separately under Stock Transactions.
Which document for which job
Section titled “Which document for which job”| You need to | Use |
|---|---|
| Send stock to another branch | Moving stock between branches |
| Record that stock was damaged, expired or consumed | Good issues |
| Correct one item’s quantity | Stock adjustments |
| Turn one item into another — repack, re-label | Re-assignments |
| Add freight or duty to what goods cost you | Landed costs |
| Count the shop and correct everything | Stock counts |
| Stop stock being sold without removing it | Conditions and reservations |
| Find out why a number changed | Tracking stock movements |
| Know what to buy | Reordering and replenishment |
The quantity that matters
Section titled “The quantity that matters”The number on the shelf is not the number the till can sell. What it can sell is:
available stock − reservations − committed backorders
Stock can be present but unsellable because it is in a damaged or quarantine condition, because it is reserved for a layaway, or because it is in transit between branches. No single screen shows all of these together, so a puzzling shortage usually means checking two or three.
Three things that surprise people
Section titled “Three things that surprise people”- Reorder levels are not on the product. They live on a separate reorder policy, per item per branch. See Reordering.
- A dispatched transfer is nobody’s stock until the receiving branch posts a receipt, and receiving is manual unless you switch on automatic receiving.
- A posted stock count cannot be undone, and neither can a posted good issue — the correction is another document, not a reversal.
| Plan | |
|---|---|
| Stock adjustments, inventory flows | All plans |
| Transfers, requests, receipts, good issues, counts, reservations, warranty claims | Growth |
| Conditions, consignment, balances, batches, serials, reordering, replenishment | Professional |
| Kit assemblies, landed costs, cycle-count schedules, inventory periods | Enterprise |
Not built yet
Section titled “Not built yet”These appear in the menu but open a placeholder. Several have complete engines behind them that no screen reaches:
| Menu item | Behind it |
|---|---|
| Shelves, Shelf Tree | A full nested shelf and bin model with per-shelf quantities. Unreachable. |
| Stock Putaway | Nothing. |
| Stock Postings | A complete engine. Unreachable. |
| Mobile Stock Count | Nothing separate — the ordinary count screen works on a phone. |
| Count Posting Batches | Batch posting and the only way to correct a posted count. Unreachable. |
| Count Reconciliation | Sign-off reporting. Unreachable. |
| Cycle-Count Schedules | Recurring counts. The automation runs, but nothing can create a schedule for it to run. |
Two more screens are real but empty: ABC Classification and Stock Aging have no calculation behind them at all. See Reordering and replenishment.
