Settings and how they resolve
SaleSprint has around 240 settings, and nearly every one can be set at more than one level. A setting is not simply on or off — it is on or off somewhere, and the level it was set at decides who it applies to.
The five levels
Section titled “The five levels”From broadest to narrowest:
| Level | Applies to | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Every account | The platform operator only |
| Account | Your whole business | Your administrators |
| Company | One legal entity | Your administrators |
| Location | One shop or warehouse | Your administrators |
| User | One person | That person |
The most specific level wins
Section titled “The most specific level wins”When the same setting is set at several levels, resolution runs from narrowest to broadest and stops at the first value it finds:
User → Location → Company → Account → Platform → built-in defaultLocations resolve through their own ancestry, so a setting on a parent location covers its children unless a child overrides it.
Anything never set anywhere falls through to the built-in default that ships with the product.
The practical consequence: setting something at account level does not guarantee it applies. If a location or an individual user has an override, theirs wins. When a setting appears not to be taking effect, look down for an override before looking up.
Every settings screen shows you this directly. Each row tells you the value in force, which level produced it, whether this level overrides it, and what it would fall back to if you removed the override.
Who can change what
Section titled “Who can change what”- Where
- Settings → Business → Workspace settings
- Plan
- All plans
- Permission
- Organization → Setting → Edit
- Platform settings are the operator’s. They are not editable from the app at all.
- Account, company and location settings need the
organization.setting.editpermission. Viewing them needsorganization.setting. - Your own preferences need no permission — they are yours.
A few settings are additionally gated by your plan: custom receipt layouts and receipt footer text need the custom-receipt-layout capability, and messaging sender IDs need the matching sender-ID capability. Clearing one of these back to the inherited value is never gated, so a downgrade can never trap you with a setting you cannot undo.
How to change a setting for one shop
Section titled “How to change a setting for one shop”The level you are editing is decided by where you open the editor from — there is no level picker inside it.
- Go to Organization → Locations.
- Find the shop, open its ⋮ menu and click Scoped settings.
- Check the blue badge at the top reads Location and names your shop.
- Type into Search settings — or click Expand all and open a group.
- Read the grey line under the setting: “Inherits from Workspace” and the current value. That tells you where the value is coming from right now.
- Flip the Override switch on. An editor appears, pre-filled with the inherited value.
- Change the Value.
There is no Save button. Changes save themselves — watch for the tick beside the setting name. Close with the X.
How to undo an override
Section titled “How to undo an override”- Open the same editor at the same level.
- Find the setting. Groups with overrides carry a blue pencil badge, and the top of the dialog shows how many there are.
- Flip Override off.
The row goes back to reading “Inherits from …” with the value now in force.
Where to open the editor for each level
Section titled “Where to open the editor for each level”| Scope | Where |
|---|---|
| Account | Settings → Business → Workspace settings |
| Your own | Settings → Business → My preferences |
| Company | Organization → Companies → ⋮ → Scoped settings |
| Location | Organization → Locations → ⋮ → Scoped settings |
All four open the same editor. Changing anything but your own preferences needs the Organization → Setting → Edit permission.
