Your first day
You have signed in and you are looking at Home. Most of it is empty, because you have no data yet. This page gets you to your first sale.
What is already done for you
Section titled “What is already done for you”Signing up created these, so leave them alone unless something is wrong:
| Your company | Named after your business |
| One shop | Called “<Your business> — Main Store” |
| Your currency | Taken from the country you chose at signup |
| Your admin account | Holding every permission in the system |
What you must do before you can sell
Section titled “What you must do before you can sell”Work down this list in order. Only the first two are strictly required.
1. Add your products
Section titled “1. Add your products”Nothing is stocked for you.
- Go to Catalog → Products.
- Click New and fill in the name and price.
- Repeat, or use the import tool if you have a spreadsheet.
See Products.
2. Put your opening stock in
Section titled “2. Put your opening stock in”A new product has a quantity of zero until you tell the system otherwise. Either:
- If you are buying stock in anyway, record it as an Instant Purchase — this books the stock in and records what you paid, which also gives you a cost for profit reporting.
- If the stock is already on your shelves, use a stock adjustment per item, or do a stock count if there is a lot of it.
3. Set up tax, if you charge it
Section titled “3. Set up tax, if you charge it”No tax is configured at signup. Go to Settings and set whether you pay tax, and whether your prices already include it. See Settings.
Get this right before you start selling — changing it later does not correct sales already recorded.
4. Make your first sale
Section titled “4. Make your first sale”Go to the till and sell something. See Point of sale.
When you are ready to add staff
Section titled “When you are ready to add staff”Your signup created exactly one role: admin, which can do everything. There are no ready-made cashier or manager roles — you build the ones you need.
- Go to Administration → Roles and create a role, for example Cashier.
- Tick only the permissions that role should have.
- Go to Administration → Users, add the person, and give them that role.
What you can safely leave until later
Section titled “What you can safely leave until later”- Your chart of accounts. Deliberately not created at signup, because it is an accountant’s choice. You can sell without it and set it up in one click later, in Finance. Sales and stock are recorded correctly meanwhile; only the bookkeeping entries wait.
- More branches and warehouses.
- Cashier shifts. Not required unless you switch them on.
If you see “No workspace assigned”
Section titled “If you see “No workspace assigned””The whole app is replaced by a message saying your account is not assigned to any company or location. It means your access was not set up, or somebody removed it.
You cannot fix this yourself. Ask an administrator to assign you to a company or shop, then sign in again.
- Point of sale — making a sale
- Buying and receiving — getting stock in
- Core concepts — how plans, permissions and settings fit together
